Situation
The needs assessment for pediatric home care (Kinder-SPITEX) is currently carried out using various, sometimes unstructured instruments. Therefore, Spitex Switzerland aims to introduce a unified and structured needs assessment tool for all age groups to consistently and transparently capture the situation of children and their families. The interRAI PEDS-HC and interRAI 0-3 Early Years are part of the interRAI family, which is already in use in the adult home care sector in Switzerland. However, these two tools for pediatric home care are still new in Switzerland. The 2023 pilot project (https://www.bfh.ch/de/forschung/forschungsprojekte/2022-034-960-285/) showed that the PEDS-HC is generally usable for Swiss pediatric home care, but adjustments are necessary to meet cultural requirements. The interRAI 0-3 Early Years is now available in German for the first time.
Course of action
This follow-up project prepares the two needs assessment instruments, interRAI Pediatric Home Care (PEDS-HC) (4-18 years) and interRAI 0-3 Early Years, for use in Swiss pediatric home care. Both instruments will be further developed with experts from pediatric home care, and the conditions for successful application and implementation will be clarified.
