How can the materiality and authenticity of a work be preserved? Which historical, or rather proven and new technologies can be used and further developed? How can the success of treatment be scientifically verified? These are just some of the questions that define our research in the field of Conservation Techniques. 

This field of research focuses on the conservation, restoration and valorisation of works of art and cultural heritage. The aim is to develop materials and processes that effectively slow down the aging process of these works, enabling their continued use, while also preserving their authenticity and considering ethical and historical aspects.

Nano2: Neue Methode zur Restaurierung von tintenfrassgeschädigten Manuskripten [A new method for the restoration of ink-corroded manuscripts]

Development of an anhydrous dispersion for the local treatment of ink damage on paper: The combination of nanocellulose and alkaline nanoparticles is intended to chemically deacidify and mechanically stabilise the paper.
