Biography
- Anne Czichowsky, born in 1981 in Schaffhausen (CH), studied jazz vocals at the Universities of Music in Stuttgart and Graz. Since then, she has established herself as a soloist and bandleader in various jazz projects and has won several international jazz awards, as well as the prestigious ‚Landesjazzpreis Baden-Württemberg’, as the first singer in the history of this award. With her passion for scat improv and straight ahead jazz, she can truly be considered as a “keeper of the flame”. Her many vocalese lyrics on instrumental solos attract international attention.
Since 2008, she has released five albums as a bandleader, among others with her working band ‚Anne Czichowsky Quintet’ and with her all female quintet ‚Lines for Ladies’, in which she collaborates with co-leader Sabine Kühlich as well as with jazz legend Sheila Jordan. Anne is grateful to have worked with many fantastic artists in the past, such as Darmon Meader, New York Voices, Kristin Korb, Zurich based guitarist Michael Bucher, Greetje Kauffeld, Laia Genc, Thilo Wagner, Andreas Herrmann, Axel Kühn, Matthias Daneck, Bernd Konrad‘s Südpool Ensemble with Herbert Joos, Günter Lenz and many more.
Anne is a dedicated jazz vocal and ear training teacher - since 2009, she has taught in several German music universities (HfM Saar, HMDK Stuttgart, HMT München). Apart from many workshop and masterclass activities, she‘s currently teaching jazz vocals at ZHdK and Ear Training at the HKB jazz department.
