David’s Bag of Songs

This project is an exploration of songwriting. Most, if not all of the pieces will have lyrics around which the compositions grow. Although the songs tend to be arranged to a high degree of detail, there will be space for improvisation from these wonderful musicians.

The concept for this music is to strike the balance between the sweet and disturbed, comfortable and strange, the known and the unknown, and to reflect this perpetual existential tension in a colourful and engaging way.

Funk, the quartet surrounding the guitarist Luca Imholz knows a lot about it. From soulful melodies to electrifying basslines, this line up promises to make you want to dance.

Balladen und mehr

Kontrolle und Improvisation ist eine schöne Kombination. Dieser spannenden Synthese will ich mich in meinem aus Eigenkompositionen und Arrangements bestehendem Bachelorkonzert widmen. Genauso wichtig wie die Auswahl der Stücke ist auch die Wahl der Mitmusiker*innen. Zum Glück konnte ich während meines Studiums Leute finden, mit denen ich mich musikalisch verstehe und die mit mir dieses Konzert spielen werden.

Humans through Machines…

Somewhere between serene harmonies and overactive glitchy textures, like an abstract sound sculpture, contemplative melodies that evoke a sense of introspection to frenetic tribal rhythms.

In this sonic world, clattering percussions and curling synths dance in the foreground, weaving intricate patterns that beckon exploration. The blurring of boundaries between the «real» and the «virtual» encourages to ponder the intersection of the tangible and the digital.

La Terre

La Terre erinnert mal an Hardbop aus den 60ern, mal an etwas freieren Hiphop und manchmal auch nur daran, dass Atmen mehr ist als Luftholen. Was unterscheidet das Gehen vom Vortwärtskommen, das Bewegen vom Positionswechsel und die Wahrnehmung von der Feststellung? Mit treibenden Grooves, Bläsersätzen, tastenden Gedichten und unzähmbaren Improvisationen macht sich die Band auf die Suche und stellt dabei den Austausch zwischen den Musizierenden in den Mittelpunkt.

so lade ich euch nun ein. mögen eure füsse im eigenen tempo stampfen. verträumt über den boden streichen. nervös tippeln. liebevoll die sitznachbar*in anstupsen.

MaMaMa 3

MaMaMa 3 = Mattia Belz, Mattia Facchini und Maxence Nappez. Dieses Produkt entstand aus ausgefallenen Duokonzerten der beiden Mattias auf der Schweizer Rigi, an uneingeladenen Weihnachtsfeiern und einem Hundegottesdienst. Daraus entstand die logische Schlussfolgerung, Maxence Nappez mit ins Boot zu holen, wodurch die Band in ihre momentane Form fand. Seither erforscht MaMaMa 3 fleissig die Grenzen und Möglichkeiten dieser speziellen Besetzung und präsentiert Eigenkompositionen welche nach Lust und Laune auf dem Spektrum von prädeterminierter-, zu impulsiver Echtzeit-Komposition tanzen. Ganz nach dem eklektizistischen Geist der Band bedeutet dies: schnelle Abdrücker-Themen, freie Improvisation, bis hin zu kammermusikalischem Bläsertrio.

With this first musical voyage filled with original compositions, Lucien Palak wants to remind us that music is a constantly evolving concept, or in other words, a journey.

My main motivation behind my bachelor project is nature and animals but more specifically gorillas. They have always been a huge source of inspiration for me. The pieces of my concert will be my own compositions and arrangements. And I am proud to play with people I met thanks to school and with whom I have a great connexion.
